Our Little Ham

J.W. makes this face and it makes us all laugh. Anna Claire made the exact same face when she was a baby! Do you think he knows how cute he is?!

Backyard Project - 2 days!

The back porch is FINALLY clear of 1,000 toys, yea!
Mike and I spent 2 days putting together this storage building. There must have been 2,000 screws and bolts. One of those things a person does once in life; once only. Anyway, I love it and it totally cleaned up all the toys. Thank you Wick and Jogee for your help.

Already full of stuff.

A Poem By Anna Claire

She wrote this poem in about 30 minutes on Thursday night. Thought it was insightful so I wanted to share it.

January 23, 2009My Room

My room.
My safe place to get away.
A sanctuary of silence and peace.
My yellow walls from when I was a child,
Now occupied with posters from me today.

My fort.
My secure fortress in the battle of life.
A place to let it all out and be myself.
Where my army of dreams and I fight reality.

My study.
A quiet, calm place to journal and write.
My desk filled with books I cannot seem to give up.
Drawings and homework find themselves cluttered here.

Myself.
Blaring music,
A messy bed, and everything unkept.
Pictures from long ago posted on my billboard,
Reminding me of times I do not forget.
My violin perched casually next to my desk,
An instrument I use to express myself.

My world
A place where my books and dreams come alive,
Each night my dreams and fantasies become real,
My room.

Anna Claire's 12 Today!

Big Day!

Lone Oak

J.W. lovessssss to drive. He loves his dad even more!Sara Beth is listening to her Ipod and gettin' her groove on. Love that girl...

Tired babies.

Lone Oak

Mike has been working non-stop to clear the house pasture. It was very, very thick South Texas brush, but after much work, we can finally see where the house will go. Thanks to Nathan and Wick for coming out to help.Sara Beth is examining a thorn.

Mike, after 12 hours on the dozier. Wow!

Lots and lots of brush.

The girls are working on what we call "Narnia". It is a fun hidaway and they are building their own "rooms". It keeps them busy.

Life these days...

Now that we are back in school, our evenings are full. The kids have lots of homework and then it's dinner and nighttime routine. So, there hasn't been much time to take pictures, much less update the blog.

J.W. had his 9 month checkup today, 2 days before he turns 10 months. Gotta love that 4th child! Anyway, he had to receive 2 shots, and did great, but isn't feeling to well now. Other than that, all the doctor can say is, "Wow, he is really big for his age".

Anna Claire is busy with 9 week exams and UIL practices. She plans to try out for a part in the school play next week (on the afternoon of her birthday, maybe that will bring good luck!).

Reading is really beginning to click for Sara Beth. She reads everything she can, and if she can't read it, she is great about trying to sound it out. She is so ready to be reading novels.

Chloe Mae is always helping with J.W., she is so good with him. Don't know what I would do without her help! She too is busy with school, tests, commitments, and she can't wait for sports to start back up.

Mike is running a bull dozier and bobcat at Lone Oak this week. So much brush, so little time. I will take pictures this weekend to show off his progress.

I must get a little sleep, busy day tomorrow (and potentially long night if J.W. wakes up not feeling well...).

Love to all -

Christmas

J.W. loved Christmas! And that huge box was his Santa gift, a new wagon. Guess Santa thought he shouldn't have to live with an 11 yr. old hand me down that is barely getting by.

Christmas Eve

These are the beautiful paintings that Grandmother Paulyne made for each of the girls as keepsakes. They are treasures! Dustin and J.W. sharing some fun.

Great Man Hunter...

Mike and friends went to West Texas on New Year's Day for some hunting. While he did manage to snag a 12 point buck, the highlight of the trip was this massive buffalo. 1200 lbs! And believe it or not, the meat is awesome. We won't be grocery shopping for hamburger or steak all year!
